Hauling in big game in style and comfort, and with the greatest of ease, is the idea behind the new Albemarle 330 Express Fisherman. No doubt if you’re a serious angler, you’ve heard about the legendary Carolina hull, the foundation on which all Albemarles are built. The hull’s sharp deadrise and extra-wide yet elegant bow flair are evolving creatures of evolution, thanks to input from top naval architects over the decades. The Carolina hull slices through the most brutal head seas with ease, tracking effortlessly in following or breaking seas to deliver a steady and stable platform whether it’s engaged in serious fishing or casual cruising.
In the new 330XF, you’ll find a marriage made in heaven between the best fishing and design features of the popular 360XF, all in a tighter presentation. Still, the 330 feels like a much larger vessel as a result of well-designed features such as the super-size cockpit and extra-deep gunwales. The molded, hand-laid fiberglass hull is reinforced with cored hull sides and vinylester resin. The 330’s interior is elegantly appointed, yet expertly designed and outfitted for big-game angling. Consider the cockpit with seven tackle drawers and 12 rod holders (four flush-mounted). Add a 56-gallon, transom-mounted fishbox, as well as an insulated 57-gallon, in-deck fishbox and a 25-gallon livewell/cooler.
The finer touches include a cabin with a queen berth, teak cabinetry, a galley and large dining area, stainless steel drawer refrigerator, Corian countertops, Ultraleather sofa with twin-berth conversion and a stand-up shower in the enclosed head. Teak and holly floors are optional.
The twin inboard diesels from Cummins (420 hp) or Caterpillar (455 hp), along with a 450-gallon fuel tank offer plenty of power and range. With the Cummins, the 330 will hit an average top speed of 32.7 mph at 2890 rpm.
For style, strength and versatility, few sportsfishing vessels can touch the Albemarle line. With the 330XF, the terms "built tough" and "easy rider" come together quite nicely.
